I've always associated the light fragrance of jasmines with deities and temples and they give me a sense of peace whenever I see them contained and offered to the Gods. But in this state, they do not last more than a day. I was about to discard these jaded flowers when I paused to look at them more closely. I found the tinges of purple on the white petals appealing and thought that I should capture what I saw before they deteriorated further. But one thing led to another and I realised that the course of nature cannot be arrested because time could not stand still and I might not be able to capture the flowers at this particular point in time because of my slowness in painting. But I have photographed what I would like to paint and that would be something to remind me that I need to take my paints and brushes out again.
